Puzzles may involve deciphering cryptic words and numbers, using or looking at objects in interesting ways, or applying knowledge you have gathered along your quest.
Puzzles have one possible solution,
but that does not mean there aren't multiple paths to get there.
Puzzles might solve to a code, a key, or other item that completes your quest and story.

How to Solve a Puzzle

EXPLORE
Search for patterns and what appears out of place
Is that a chest I spy in the wood?
The very same I was told I might find by a mysterious scroll we found stuffed into a bottle on the beach...

ANALYZE
Discover how these strange details may be trying to communicate
The chest contains 7 stone fish numbered
1-7.
The scroll said I must bring the children of treasure home and in exchange they will reveal a secret word that will help us on our quest.

SYNTHESIZE
Piece together all clues and details you've collected
I take it these stone fish are the "children of treasure," but where is their home?
Our adventure happens to be following a wild river and, from what I know about fish, they can't be out of water for long.
Perhaps I should try returning them to water...

EVALUATE
Determine what do to with all that you have collected
Once wet, each stone reveals a letter!
Order the stones from 1 to 7 and a word emerges:
